The “Immersive Reader” in Word makes it much more pleasant to read

Word's Immersive Reader is a built-in feature that makes reading documents on screen significantly more comfortable — and it takes just seconds to activate. Open the View tab, click Immersive Reader, and a dedicated tab appears with all the tools you need to tailor the display to your eyes. You can adjust the page colour — from white to black or softer tones — to reduce eye strain during longer reading sessions. The column width setting controls how many words appear per line, with narrower columns making it easier to track your place without losing focus. Text spacing increases the distance between letters and words, while the syllables option breaks words into visible units for even smoother reading. The Line Focus function limits the visible text to one, three, or five lines at a time, keeping your attention exactly where it needs to be. Each setting can be switched on or off independently, so you can build a configuration that works for your specific needs — and exit the view at any time with a single click.
